Dear friends of UKirk,
We’ve been a bit delinquent with our updates this semester, but not with our programming! It’s been a busy few months at UKirk MTSU as students have grown together in faith and fun.
We’ve had several great events this fall, including pumpkin painting, a late-night movie and game night, and our Halloween karaoke party, BooKirk. Beyond the fun, our Thursday night devotionals have been deeply meaningful. We’ve been using The Parables of Jesus by German theologian Luise Schottroff to guide our discussions, exploring how Jesus’ stories still speak into our lives and campus community today.
This semester we also added something new to our weekly rhythm: UPerk, a free or by-donation coffee day at the UKirk house each Tuesday from 9am – 4pm. Inspired by other UKirk ministries in Knoxville, Tuscaloosa, and Tallahassee, UPerk gives MTSU students a welcoming place to study, rest, or just enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation. It’s another way we’re sharing hospitality and making the UKirk house a visible, open space for the wider campus.
Coming up, we’re excited to host a Tailgate at the UKirk House this Saturday, November 8 from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. ahead of the MTSU football game! We’ll have burgers, hotdogs, and a relaxed space for students, alumni, and friends of UKirk to hang out and connect. We’d love for you to stop by and join us!
Your support makes this kind of ministry possible, creating spaces where students can experience community, faith, and care during their college years. If you’d like to support UKirk, you can:
